Buses left on time today. They have previously been leaving late because of learning the process of buses, getting them in assigned seats and other things. Times for today are more accurate than previous days because buses left on time.

What a fantastic first week at Alexander Wilson! Thank you for your patience and support as we navigated the new Weapons Detection System, our new bus app, and usual back-to-school routines.

Please note the following arrival procedures for tomorrow:

Drop-Off: ALL students must arrive via the car line or school bus moving forward. Parents are not permitted to walk students into the building during morning arrival unless you have direct permission from Dr. Westmoreland.

Tardies (7:55 AM – 8:10 AM): Students arriving during this window are considered tardy. Please park in the front or side lot, walk your child through the Weapons Detection System at the side entrance (brown awning), and check them in at the main office.

Late Arrivals (After 8:10 AM): All entry shifts exclusively to the main front doors (white awning). Late arrivals/guardians/visitors will still have to walk through the Weapons Detections System.

Let's make it a fabulous Friday!

Good evening bus parents. We wanted to let you know that there are a couple changes to two routes starting tomorrow morning. If your child's bus number and time has changed, they will have a letter. This will only impact a small amount of students from bus 53. The areas that are impacted are the George Bason Rd/Quarry Rd and Country Club Trail/Pebble Drive. For bus 192 students, this will minimally impact your time (maybe up to 10 minutes). For bus 53, this may cause the bus to be 10-15 minutes different from the recent times for a small group of students. This starts tomorrow morning. This does not impact bus 24/155 or bus 88.

Parents, the Here Comes the Bus app has had several issues. We are hoping these issues will resolve in the first few weeks of school. We have gotten several reports of issues and we are very sorry for this. All the things you are doing is right but it is not working perfectly. We apologize and hope it will work correctly soon.

Good evening, families! Please read all. I am happy to inform you that when your child is added to a bus route the information will be added to Here Comes the Bus. Please keep a check on the application throughout the weekend for possible bus updates. If they are added during the weekend, that means they can ride Monday. Mrs. Corcoran will continue to update families in addition to this app. If you receive an update on Here Comes the Bus during a school day and would like to make sure your child rides home on the bus, please complete the change of transportation form in the parent updates and reference the Here Comes the Bus app update and the bus number for your child.

That moment when you bust into a Monday staff meeting with BIG news! 🎉 We're proud to share that Taylor Corcoran from Alexander Wilson Elementary is the 2026-2027 ABSS Assistant Principal of the Year! Since Day 1 on the job, Mrs. Corcoran has been "all-in" for her staff and students, making a tremendous impact on the school community. As Principal Westmoreland stated, she and the staff always knew how great Taylor was, but now it is district-official.
