Road Closure graphic with a blurred aerial map

Please be aware of a road closure that may impact your commute. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (DOT) has closed a portion of Gerringer Road between Meadowbrook Drive and Walker Road.

This closure will create a detour and likely cause traffic congestion around the school, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.

Message from the Elon Police Department Week of September 9:
We want to inform you of a temporary traffic change that may affect your school drop-off and pick-up routines.

Due to the closure of Gerringer Dr for repairs, the Elon Police Department is implementing a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Walker Rd and Powerline Dr, effective immediately:

 New Traffic Pattern

  • Right Turn Only / No Left Turn from Walker Rd onto Powerline Dr for all vehicles except school buses.

  • Only school buses will be allowed to turn left at this intersection.

  • All other vehicles must turn right, proceed to the traffic light at Powerline Dr and University Dr, and turn left or right from there as needed.

 Additional Details

  • Clear signage will be posted in the area.

  • A uniformed police officer will be stationed at the intersection during these hours to assist with traffic flow and safety.

We understand this may add a few extra minutes to your commute, and we truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently for all students and families. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school office. Thank you for your continued support.
