The Alamance-Burlington School System is pleased to announce Brian Barfield as Graham High School's new Assistant Principal. Mr. Barfield brings a distinctive combination of leadership experience and deep passion for the arts and community to his new role.

Mr. Barfield is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools (PPEERS) program. Most recently, he served as an Elementary Assistant Principal in Randolph County Schools, where he supported daily operations, instructional planning, and fostered positive school culture. His dedication and effectiveness in this role earned him recognition as Assistant Principal of the Year.

His educational background also includes extensive experience as a Music Teacher at Archdale Elementary and as the Director of Instrumental and Vocal Music Studies at Trinity High School for over a decade. Mr. Barfield has shared his expertise by providing professional development on arts curriculum at both school and district levels, and offers consulting services for marching band programs across the Southeast and California, staying current with the evolving landscape of cultural and fine arts.

Beyond his educational roles, Mr. Barfield is a semi-professional musician, performing with a band across the East Coast, and has experience as an adjudicator for various music events.

Reflecting on his new appointment, Barfield shared his enthusiasm: "I am excited to join the team at Graham High School. I believe in fostering a strong community of learners who are empowered to make a meaningful impact in the world. As a passionate advocate for the arts and the broader community where our children grow and learn, I look forward to getting to work and helping all students, staff and our community reach their full potential."
