Activities

Smith Elementary School has several extra-curricular activities available for its students to participate in.

Battle of the Books

Fourth and fifth grade students at Smith Elementary have the opportunity to participate in the Battle of the Books program. Interested students begin reading twelve selected novels. They must take tests on the novels to see if they qualify for the program. Usually twenty-four students are chosen to make up four different teams. The four teams battle it out to find out who has the most knowledge on the twelve selected books.

WBCB Morning Show

The morning show is a quick news show produced by Smith School's fifth graders. Interested students apply and attend an interview/audition session prior to be chosen to participate in the weekly show. The morning show crew practices once a week during the afternoon prior to the next morning's live performance.

Safety Patrol

The safety patrol advisors select fifth graders to help out around the school. Their duties include but are not limited to cleaning windows, sweeping floors, holding doors for students, parents, and teachers, opening car doors, washing tables, and keeping order in our hallways. Safety patrols serve for one semester. We are proud of our dedicated hard workers!

Buzz Choir

Students in 4th and 5th grade are invited to participate in Buzz Choir. Buzz choir is for students who enjoy singing and performing. We meet one morning a week before school and have multiple performances throughout the school year. Students will receive information on how to sign up for Buzz Choir in the first few weeks of school.
