Western NJROTC Water Warriors

Western Alamance High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Cadet’s Brayden Perfertto and Joseph Versace completed the Navy JROTC’s Sailing Academy Course at Moncks Corner, South Carolina 12-17 June 2022 and managed by NJROTC Area 6 featuring 46 cadets of the 6000 NJROTC cadets from over 65 units in North and South Carolina.

The goal of the course is to stress the whole concept of quiet professionalism and teamwork. Teamwork comes in handy when the cadets set sail and then tipped over, upright the boat, and clear out excessive amounts of water in the bottom of the craft. Teamwork is also a big part of sailing during turning movements as the boat tack and jibe. This is where the cadets learn that quiet professionalism is so important. Everyone needs to know their job and only listen to the instructions from the leader of the boat. The Sailing Academy gives cadets a better perspective on leadership qualities in hopes that they can go back to their school and build a stronger and cohesive NJROTC Unit.”
