NC Effectiveness Substitute Training
The Alamance-Burlington School System requires that anyone interested in becoming a substitute teacher completes “NC Effective Substitute Training (Interactive) v.22” prior to becoming a substitute teacher. This training is offered online through App-Garden and virtual training courses may be accessed for up to one year from the date of purchase.
The cost of the virtual training course is $29.00.
Each course includes quizzes and you will have three opportunities to pass each quiz.
For support/help using the App-Garden online course you may scroll to the bottom and click on “Need Help.” A representative will contact you during normal business hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. If you need support on weekends or holidays, you will be contacted when normal business hours resume.
Upon successful completion of the training, please email a copy of the certificate you received to the Alamance-Burlington School System Human Resources Department. We will also accept a certificate stating that you have completed the Teacher Assistant Program at ACC in lieu of the Effective Teacher Training. If you have a teaching certificate, whether current or expired, you may submit this also, in lieu of the Effective Teacher Training.
