On March 20th, 2023, the Alamance County Board of Commissioners proclaimed the Week of April 1-7, 2023 as The Week of the Young Child, in an effort to encourage all citizens to support and invest in early child care and education.  Week of the Young Child in Alamance County is a celebration of the youngest citizens of the community, their families, and early care and education professionals. The purpose is to focus the community's attention on the strengths of early care and education programming happening as well as the vast equitable needs of our youngest scholars.

High-quality early care and education can lead to positive outcomes for individual children,  improving the effects of poverty, identifying and preventing neglect, and detecting and remediating delays.  Early care and education sets them up for success in school which makes it more likely they will have a successful future.

The partnership includes Alamance-Burlington School System along with the Alamance Achieves, Alamance Community College, Alamance Partnership for Children, in conjunction with the North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children (NCAEYC) and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

ABSS and these organizations are working to promote and inspire high-quality early care and education experiences to provide a foundation of learning and success.
