Alexander Wilson Elementary, one of the original two high schools in ABSS, is celebrating its 100th year as a school with a full day of events on May 6, 2023.

The day will begin with an Alumni Pancake Breakfast from 7 am - 9 am at the school followed by a celebration at 5 p.m. complete with car show, carnival games, food truck, entertainment, and more.

One of the highlights of the day will be a student-led decade experience hosted by the STEAM club. Each room will include a grocery store, pop culture corner, games, toys, technology, and transportation from the various decades all led and guided by current 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.

Attendees will also be able to contribute and personalize the school’s 100-year mural that will be displayed on campus.

At 5:30 p.m. there will be a special alumni performance and at 6 p.m. all of the former principals will be honored.

“We are excited to celebrate our rich history with our current students and the decades that have shaped this AWEsome school,” said Ashley Westmoreland, Principal.

A special email address has been established to field questions and for   those interested in attending.   The email is:  awturns100@gmail.com

The school is named after Dr. Alexander Wilson, a prominent Irishman who settled in Alamance County and later opened a school in his home not far from the school’s current site.
