ABSS Students who have begun apprenticeships with local companies wearing caps and standing on stage

The Alamance Career Accelerator Program (CAP) celebrated a new milestone Thursday night as 17 current and recently graduated students from the Alamance-Burlington School System signed apprenticeship agreements with local companies. The signing ceremony, held at Trailhead Church in Graham, welcomed one of the largest cohorts of apprentices since CAP launched in 2015.

The competitive program matches high school seniors and recent graduates with paid multi-year apprenticeships combining classroom instruction and on-the-job training.

Students were selected after a rigorous application process that included facility tours, academic and attendance requirements, orientation with business leaders, and a six-week pre-apprenticeship. Over the next four years, they will work toward an Associate of Applied Science Degree and Journeyman Certificate while earning a salary and job experience.

CAP is a collaborative effort between the school system, Alamance Community College, ApprenticeshipNC, and the Alamance Chamber. It allows students to graduate debt-free with a guaranteed career path while helping local companies develop skilled workers tailored to their needs.
