The North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) honored Alamance-Burlington School System today with eight Blue Ribbon Awards for excellence in school communications and public relations. This recognition highlights ABSS' outstanding efforts in strategic communication around key district initiatives and events over the past year.  Thirty-five school districts across the state were honored today in a ceremony in High Point.  

ABSS earned top honors for its effective crisis communication and community outreach during the summer's mold remediation project. The District also received recognition for its innovative social media campaign with the Burlington Sock Puppets to boost summer reading. Additional awards were given for the strategic plan communication, Every Minute Matters campaign, the inaugural celebration of top staff called the Evening of Excellence, and digital media coverage of the Farm to Table program. 

Digital Media Coordinator James Shuler won two gold awards.  One in the photography category for capturing students in the Farm to Table program and for the District Strategic Plan publication.

"We believe strong relationships are built on open and honest communication," said Superintendent Dr. Dain Butler. Our Public Information Office works tirelessly to keep our community informed in a straightforward way."

 NCSPRA is a statewide professional organization serving school communication professionals across North Carolina. Its mission is to build support for public education through effective public relations.
