Women in Sports Celebration collage featuring female athletes, coaches, and directors

The Alamance-Burlington School System held its inaugural Women in Sports Celebration on April 22nd, recognizing the incredible achievements and unwavering dedication of female athletes, coaches, and athletic directors from the past to the present.

From the courts to the fields, from the tracks to the tees, ABSS's female student-athletes have showcased not only their athletic prowess but also their unwavering spirit. Behind their success were the guiding hands of passionate female coaches who mentored and inspired them every step of the way. ABSS also celebrated the female athletic directors whose leadership paved the way for girls' athletics programs to thrive.

The celebration was an opportunity to honor these extraordinary individuals and pledge continued support for women in sports at all levels. The attendees lauded the journeys of the athletes, coaches, and administrators, acknowledging that they are trailblazing role models for future generations. Allie Quinn, a former ABSS student-athlete and NC State University attendee, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

A resounding message was echoed from Guest Speaker Que Tucker, NCHSAA Commissioner: The dedication, determination, and courage of ABSS's female athletes, coaches, and athletic directors serve as a beacon of hope for us all. Their journeys inspire us to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and strive for excellence in all aspects of life.

The Alamance-Burlington School System remains committed to fostering an environment that celebrates and empowers women in sports, ensuring that their achievements are recognized and their paths to success are paved with unwavering support. We extend our gratitude to Athletic Director Todd Davis for his steadfast support of women's athletics, as well as for organizing this inspirational event. We also thank Revonda Johnson, Chief Academic Officer, was for her longtime leadership and profound impact on ABSS athletics over many years.
