Dr. Christina Armfield Named Executive Director of Exceptional Children text beside her portrait

Dr. Christina Armfield will assume the role of Executive Director of Exceptional Children for Alamance-Burlington Schools, effective June 12, 2025. Dr. Armfield transitions into this leadership position from her current role as Director of Exceptional Children, bringing nearly two decades of experience and steadfast commitment to the district.

Dr. Armfield holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Carolina University, where she also earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2024. She began her ABSS career at Haw River Elementary School as a Speech-Language Pathologist before going on to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing across the district. She has also served in leadership roles as Lead for Deaf/Hard of Hearing and as Program Specialist for Related and Support Services.

I am deeply committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and creating inclusive learning environments where every student is valued and able to thrive.”
