The Alamance-Burlington School System is excited to announce the appointment of Jalanda Allen as the new principal of Pleasant Grove Elementary School. Ms. Allen, an experienced educator with a deep commitment to student growth and community collaboration, steps into the leadership role with a proven track record of dedication within the district.
Ms. Allen brings over a decade of diverse educational experience to Pleasant Grove. She began her career in the classroom, spending eight years as a teacher at Andrews Elementary. She then transitioned into specialized student support, serving as an Instructional Interventionist at Pleasant Grove Elementary for a year—giving her firsthand familiarity with the school community she will now lead. Most recently, Ms. Allen spent four years honing her leadership skills as the Assistant Principal at Newlin Elementary.
Her academic background includes an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a degree in Educational Leadership from High Point University.
As a leader, Ms. Allen operates on the core belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and an unwavering commitment to student success form the foundation of a thriving school.
"I am passionate about creating a positive, supportive environment where all students can learn, grow, and achieve their fullest potential," Allen said. "I am looking forward to building strong relationships with staff, students, families, and the community. I am excited to learn about the school's traditions, celebrate its successes, and work collaboratively to create opportunities for continued growth."
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Allen is highly active in her community. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, attending church events, exploring local festivals, and catching sporting events.
