The Alamance-Burlington School System is proud to announce the appointment of Peter Martinek-Jenne (affectionately known as Mr. MJ) as the new principal of Altamahaw-Ossipee (AO) Elementary School. A compassionate and deeply experienced leader, Mr. MJ steps into the role with over two decades of dedication to student success and instructional excellence.
Entering his 26th year in education, Mr. MJ brings an extensive and well-rounded background to AO Elementary. He spent 15 years in the classroom teaching Kindergarten and First Grade before transitioning to district-level support as a Curriculum Facilitator and Instructional Coach for Guilford County Schools.
After completing his leadership training at the prestigious High Point University Leadership Academy, Mr. MJ transitioned into administration within ABSS. He has successfully served as an Assistant Principal at Sylvan Elementary, Pleasant Grove Elementary, and most recently, AO Elementary, making his transition to principal a seamless one for the school community.
Known for his empathetic and collaborative leadership style, Mr. MJ is focused on maintaining the strong foundation already established at the school.
"I am looking forward to continuing the momentum that has been built at AO Elementary and leading with heart," said Mr. MJ. "It is a privilege to serve this community and work alongside our dedicated staff and families to help our students thrive."
When he is not leading the school, Mr. MJ enjoys a vibrant life at home. He loves spending quality time with his family, savoring a good espresso, listening to his favorite vinyl records, and tending to his backyard chickens.
