🌟First-grade had a fantastic time celebrating Thanksgiving🦃! Students from Mrs. Hiatt's class learned about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade by reading 'Balloons Over Broadway' by Melissa Sweet. The kids then designed their own balloons and had a parade🤩! #PhoenixTakeFlight
First graders at Elon Elementary went on a global "field trip" to South Africa today! 🇿🇦
🛫 Students boarded a pretend flight with Capt. Principal Dr. Davern as their pilot. He kept the plane steady as they enjoyed in-flight snacks and facepaint before "landing" and heading out on a safari at Kruger National Park, where they learned about local wildlife!
🛍️ After traveling to some other destinations, they sampled local treats and visited a "gift shop" with some cool souvenirs!
✨ This memorable trip was made possible by our wonderful Participate Learning teacher Mrs. Haripershad, and other school staff, who helped plan and add to the experience.
📚 Now students are creating a picture book about what they learned. An unforgettable educational adventure!

🏆We celebrated the first nine weeks by recognizing students' achievements! Awards included Lil Phoenix, Terrific Kid, REACH, Marvelous Math, Remarkable Reader, Studious in Social Studies, and Sensational Science! We are proud of our third graders!!

🌟First-grade enjoyed celebrating the Asian festival "Diwali". They learned interesting facts about this festival. Students of Mrs. Haripershad's class made and painted clay lamps 🪔and created mosaics using colored paper. It was so much fun! #Globallearning #PhoenixTakeFlight
🌟First-grade students did a project on Fact families and communities. They learned how to use fact families to help add and subtract fluently. Students wrote the facts inside of their “family houses” and then used their knowledge of communities to draw roads, buildings, parks, and people that would be found in communities! This was such a fun way of learning Math. The students from Mrs. Mathena's class show their creative "family communities"😀🥇. #MakingLearningFun #PhoenixTakeFlight
