Today, we’re giving a BIG Blue Jay shoutout to our amazing Sylvan PTA! 💙 Your support, generosity, and willingness to step up to the plate make such a difference for our students, staff, and families.

On 9/25, we celebrated the amazing folks who show up every day and put in the WORK for our Blue Jays—with a Dolly Cart-on full of DONUTS! 🍩🤠💗
Because when you’re pouring your heart into kids from 9 to 5 (and let’s be honest… educators know it’s more like before 7:30 to whenever the last email is answered 😂), you deserve a little sugar, a little sparkle, and a whole lot of appreciation!

What a great night at Sylvan! A huge THANK YOU to all of our Blue Jay families who joined us for Bases Loaded: A Blue Jay Family Learning Night!
Our families made their way around the bases—visiting classrooms to learn about grade-level expectations, talking about the importance of attendance, learning about our One School, One Book initiative, and finally making it to home plate for a Grab & Go meal! 🌭📚⚾
The best part of the night wasn’t the baseball theme—it was seeing families, students, and staff learning and connecting together. When school and home work as one team, our students are the ones who win. 💙
Thank you to our incredible staff for making the night happen and to every family who showed up, asked questions, learned alongside us, and demonstrated that you are truly part of Team Sylvan!

From Week 2 to Week 3, we saw a decrease in excused absences and early checkouts, which means more students were able to stay in the classroom and keep learning. That is worth celebrating!
At the same time, we still have important work to do. Our unexcused absences and tardies increased, and in just three weeks, our students have collectively missed more than 64,000 instructional minutes — over 1,068 hours of learning.
That’s why our Week 4 focus is simple: Be here. Be on time. Stay all day whenever possible.
When students are present, they have access to strong instruction, relationships, support, and opportunities to grow. We appreciate our families partnering with us to help every Blue Jay make every minute count.
