It's a Wonderful Wednesday to welcome one more Blue Jay to our Happy Nest!
Hello there! I love to mix mediums and build community through art. In my classroom, students are encouraged to take creative risks, explore new techniques, and express themselves freely. My goal is to create a safe, inclusive space where every student feels empowered to grow. I’m excited to help students draw out the best in themselves — both artistically and personally.

Don't forget, tonight is our first PTA Meeting! Come out and see how you can support Sylvan being the best school in the county!

Hello everyone! My name is Lesley Pond, I’m an independent musician turned new music teacher, and I’m so excited to join the Sylvan community! I studied composition and vocal jazz performance at ECU and electronic music composition at NC State.
I love animals, being outside, and pretty much anything that involves creating -whether it’s music, cooking, or making a mess in the garden.
I can’t wait to get to know my students and learn about what types of music inspire them!

I'm a proud native of Alamance County and a graduate of Williams High School, having grown up in ABSS. As a mom, I've had the joy of watching my children, Garner and McKay, follow in those footsteps--both are graduates of Eastern Alamance High School. Garner is an electrical engineer in Washington, DC, while McKay is attending UNC-Chapel Hill. My husband Doug and I have been married for 28 years, and he works at UNC Chapel Hill. I bring both a big heart and experience to the classroom. I'm committed to creating a positive learning environment where every student feels valued and important. I'm absolutely thrilled to be part of the incredible Sylvan team and proud to be a Blue Jay supporting the Pre-K Classroom!

My name is Yolanda, and I'm originally from North Carolina, where I've spent most of my life. For the past ten years, I've had the opportunity to work with children ranging from six weeks to middle school age, which has truly deepened my passion for child development and communication. I'm currently working toward a degree in Speech-Language Pathology, and I'm excited about the path ahead. Outside of work and school, I love hiking, baking, and discovering new places. I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you and being a part of this community!

Hello everyone! I’m incredibly excited to join the Sylvan Elementary family as one of the new 5th-grade teachers. It’s truly an honor to become part of such a dedicated and welcoming school community. A little about me—I’ve always had a passion for helping young learners grow both academically and personally. I’ve spent the past twelve years working in education, and I’m excited to be around the curiosity and energy that 5th graders bring to the classroom. I believe in creating a learning environment where students feel seen, supported, and challenged to do their best. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, going on mini adventures, and loving on my sweet kitty Moo Moo. I’m looking forward to a wonderful school year with our students and their families.

We would like to give a huge Blue Jay Shoutout to our anonymous "Angel Donor" who stopped by today to drop off bulk orders of school supplies. You may see boxes, but those boxes hold crayons, paper, pencils, bookbags, scissors, markers, folders, and erasers, all to ensure that EVERY Blue Jay is able to experience success and have all that they need at school! We appreciate our community donors! #sylvanisourhappynest #buildinggreatness
