Our roofing project begins tomorrow! As work gets underway, please remember that there will be no parking behind the school until further notice. K–5 car rider and bus arrival/dismissal will continue as normal with no changes to those procedures.

⚾💙 Blue Jays showed up BIG in Week 1! We kicked off the year with an incredible 98.4% attendance rate! 🎉 But even with such a strong start, our absences added up to 9,817 missed instructional minutes—that’s more than 163 hours of learning!

Our Blue Jays had a great first day to the 26-27 school year. It was jam packed full of building relationships, learning and practicing school wide expectations, and learning the importance of "playing your position" as we are One Team with One Goal! We are proud of Christine Harris and the work she’s taken on through the Teacher Leader Alliance. More than 140 educators across the Piedmont applied this year, and only 15 were selected—an exceptional honor for her and our school. The Alliance supports educators who want to strengthen their leadership and use improvement science to solve real problems by starting small, learning quickly, and using evidence to guide decisions. Below is a brief summary of her work at our school. Christine wanted her students to grow as fluent, confident readers, so she built her change idea around repeated reading and weekly oral‑reading checks. Students practiced rereading grade‑level text three days a week and tracked their own words‑correct‑per‑minute, helping them see their progress in real time. Over the cycle, several students made clear gains! Way to STEP UP TO THE PLATE!

💙We will start unloading cars and buses at 7:30 am this year.
💙All K-5 students will enter the school via the ramp at the end of the sidewalk for our weapons detection screening.
💙All students will report to the cafeteria for breakfast or wait in the gym until we release students to go to class.
💙Instruction starts at 7:50, and arrival after that is considered tardy, and parents MUST walk students into the building and sign them in.
💙For Parents of Rising Kindergarten Students: If you are walking your Kindergarten students in during the first week of school, please arrive between 8:00 and 8:15 am. Kindergarten students arriving after 8:15 am on the first week of school will be marked Tardy. Regular time will resume on the second week of school for all Kindergarten Students.
💙Parents of 1st-5th-grade students: You will not be able to walk veteran Blue Jay students into the school this school year. If you want to meet your child's teacher, please make every effort to attend the Meet the Teacher event on Thursday, August 20th, from 5:00-7:00 pm.
