Alamance Burlington Schools is pleased to welcome Erica Blackwell as the new Executive Director of Secondary Schools. With nearly three decades of public education experience, Blackwell brings extensive leadership expertise to the district.

Blackwell most recently served as Principal of Reidsville High School in Rockingham County Schools, a position she held since 2021. Her comprehensive leadership background within Rockingham County includes roles as Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, and Middle School Principal. Prior to her administrative career, she spent 15 years with Guilford County Schools from 1997 to 2012, where she served as a teacher, literacy coach, and Mission Possible Teacher Leader. She also contributed to educator preparation as an adjunct instructor at Rockingham Community College's School of Education from 2003 to 2011.

Currently pursuing an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from High Point University, Blackwell holds a Post Graduate Certificate in School Administration and a Master of Science in Adult Education & Human Resource Development from North Carolina A&T State University, where she also completed her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.

"I am honored to serve as the Executive Director of Secondary Education for Alamance Burlington Schools," Blackwell said. "I look forward to the opportunity to serve the school-based leaders in providing support and growth opportunities for students, staff, and families of Alamance County."

The district anticipates that Blackwell's proven track record in educational leadership will strengthen support for secondary schools throughout Alamance County.
