Consent Agenda

Five items were listed on the consent agenda for approval:

  • ABSS Field Trips

  • Gifts

  • Preconstruction and Design Services Contract for the Graham High School HVA Upgrades Design-Build Project

  • HVAC Repair Service Contract Amendment HVAC Repair Work Orders

  • Boiler Replacements at Southern Alamance High School

The consent agenda was approved unanimously.

Recognitions

  • Board Members held a special recognition for Board Chair, Sandy Ellington Graves, to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

  • Elon University’s Teach for Alamance Cohort was recognized. The group of current ABSS teachers has committed to teaching in ABSS while they complete the Elon University Master of Education in Innovation (M.Ed.) program.

  • Anna Sophia Steinki, second-year teacher at Andrews Elementary, was recognized as the Alamance-Burlington School System Beginning Teacher of the Year.

Superintendent

Tracey Grayzer, President of Impact Alamance, spoke about the partnership with ABSS and highlights from their 10th year anniversary. Throughout their ten years of funding, Impact Alamance has funded nearly $4 million directly to ABSS. Funding supported playground enhancements, teacher leadership academy, teacher of the year program, Donors Choose projects, and more.

Curriculum

Dr. McWherter presented the School and preliminary District Improvement Plans for questions. Improvement plans provide a roadmap for schools to focus on student achievement. Each school has a school improvement plan linked on its website that any staff, parent, or community member can review. The improvement plans were approved unanimously.

Personnel Report

Ms. Anderson presented the personnel report for approval. The report was approved unanimously.
