Duke Energy representatives presented the Business Energy Excellence Award to ABSS for the district’s work to incentivize our investments in high efficiency facilities, systems, and equipment across the district. Through this initiative during the last couple of years, ABSS has received $340K in incentives (rebates) that are used towards capital projects. These investments in energy efficiency are also saving the district a minimum of $110K per year. Thank you to the Operations team for their work in this program.
Dr. Fleming provided remarks about the following topics:
Board Appreciation Month, which was recognized in January.
Recent weather and remote learning days. He expressed that the district would always make every effort not to touch spring break for students, families, and staff.
A rezoning update for the Board of Education. The district is working with SchoolCAMP, which just completed the second community session to gather feedback. They will provide potential solutions in March.
Friday, April 17, ABSS will invite legislators to visit our schools.
The April Board of Education work session will shift to April 15 at 12:30 pm.
