Battle of the Books

The E.M. Yoder Battle of the Books team is open to any student in the fourth or fifth grade. Students are required to read all books selected by the ABSS Media Specialists/AIG teachers from the NC Battle of the Book list (usually consists of 16 books).

Student meet with Ms. Cranford to touch base with deadlines and comprehension quizzes and activities.  Mock Battles and computer quizzes help get our team ready for the county wide battle in April each year!

The E.M. Yoder Battle of the Books Team have won the District Championship two years in a row (2021-2022 and 2022-2023).

Safety Patrol

Students apply for Safety Patrol positions at their end of their 4th grade year and must be entering the 5th grade the following school year. Student must complete the application and turn it in to the Safety Patrol Staff Lead on time. A committee reviews the applicants and selects the amount of students needed to fill all the positions. Students who have a morning duty must arrive at school and be on their post by 7:30am. Students who have an afternoon duty will need to be picked up at 3:10.

Little Eagles Running Club

We will be starting a winter running club for Yoder Elementary Students in Grades 3rd-5th. This club is meant to foster a love for fitness in a fun and safe environment. There is a limit of 30 participants who can join. Students will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. You will be notified directly if your child has been admitted into the club and any additional applicants will be put on a waiting list. Students are expected to model PRIDE behaviors both during club and at school. Failure to do so will result in removal from the club.

Little Eagles Running Club will be held on Wednesdays After School. Pick Up at 3:30 PM in the gym parking lot. Frequent absences or late pick ups may also result in removal from the club. Our first practice is on Wednesday January 8, 2025. We will not have practice on January 22 (Teacher Workday) or April 16 (Spring break). The plan is to conclude the running club with the Mebane Dogwood Festival 5K on Friday April 25, 2025. Participation in the 5K is encouraged, but not required. More details regarding sign ups and cost for this event to come.

Rising Eagles

E. M. Yoder will be partnering with Eastside Baptist Church beginning in December.  Representatives from the church will be coming to Yoder monthly to have lunch with selected students.  This monthly lunch will foster relationships between our Little Eagles and members of the church.
