During Monday's Board of Education Meeting, we highlighted some exceptional students who were accepted into the North Carolina Governor’s School program! As the nation’s oldest statewide summer residential program for gifted high school students, Governor’s School provides these scholars with a life-changing opportunity to dive deep into academic and artistic disciplines without the pressure of grades. It is a massive achievement, and we are so proud to have these bright minds representing our district!

Big moves and bright futures! 🎓 Dr. Fleming hosted the final Student Advisory Council meeting of the year at Western Alamance High where students discussed into the state of classroom technology and shared their visions for improving the district. Seniors also celebrated their next chapters whether they are heading off to college, enlisting in the military, or jumping straight into the workforce. We are so proud of the diverse paths these leaders are taking! 🚀✨ #ABSSClassof2026 #ThisisABSS

A huge THANK YOU to the Western Alamance Class of 2005 for your generous donation of nonfiction books to our library!

Because of you, our students now have access to new titles in areas like history, current events, biographies, career exploration, and real-world topics that connect directly to what they’re learning in class. These are the kinds of books students ask for that are relevant, engaging, and informative.

Your gift will make a difference for years to come, and we are so grateful you chose to give back to WAHS in such a meaningful way. We love Warriors supporting Warriors!

New Books

We are excited to launch our All Hands on Deck campaign! We know that when students are in class, they are building the habits, relationships, and confidence they need to thrive. As we sail towards the end of the school year, we’ve set our sights on improved attendance district-wide! Every school has created incentives and celebrations for hitting this target! 🎯

Facts on Attendance:
📉 Missing just 2 days per month can cause a student to fall behind academically.
🎓 Strong attendance is the #1 predictor of reading at grade level and graduating on time.
🤝 Being in school every day builds the routines and social connections that help students succeed.

How Families Can Help:
✅ Set consistent bedtime and morning routines.
✅ Prepare backpacks and clothes the night before for a smooth start.
✅ Schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.

We are "All Hands on Deck" to support our students, and we thank you for being partners in education! We know it takes a community to help a child thrive. This includes educators providing engaging lessons, parents ensuring a structured routine, and students putting in the effort. We need everyone working together to finish the year strong. If the waters are rough and you're facing barriers to getting your child to school on time, please reach out! We are to help. Our crew is stronger when we are all together! 🌊✨

2-hour delay schedule for Friday, Feb 6, 2026
3 months ago, WAH Warriors
2/6/2026
ABSS will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, February 6. Temperatures are expected to be below 30-degrees and there are many wet roads that can freeze. The delay will allow for more daylight as everyone begins traveling in the morning. Staff and families are urged to use caution and give themselves extra time to get to school and work in the morning. As a reminder, these decisions are made with the safety of our staff and students in mind. We hope to be on a normal schedule next week!
