Alamance Youth Leadership (AYLA)

  • Alamance Youth Leadership Academy is a club students apply for at the end of their sixth grade year. Through the application process participants are selected. The students attend a multi-day leadership academy sponsored by the Alamance Chamber of Commerce with other sixth graders (then rising seventh graders) from the public and private schools in Alamance County.

  • AYLA members spearhead several leadership initiatives during their seventh and eighth grade years including: planning spirit weeks throughout the year, organizing canned food drives, and sponsoring the annual Valentine Dance.

  • If a student transfers into Western Middle and was an AYLA member at the previous school, he/she can participate in the Western Middle chapter of AYLA.

  • If other students or parents know of a leadership activity that AYLA might should support, feel free to contact the advisors.
