Our 2nd-grade students at E.M. Holt Elementary wrapped up their weather unit with a special visit from WFMY News 2 meteorologist Christian Morgan! The students have been studying all about the science behind weather patterns and were able to ask Christian questions to go deeper. He shared how meteorologists use technology to create forecasts and taught the kids common weather terminology. A big thank you to Christian and WFMY2 for helping make science come alive for our students!


🎃 Students at Broadview Middle School had a blast getting creative and decorating pumpkins in their classes today. It was great to see so many unique pumpkin designs take shape. Brr- it's getting cold out there. Bundle up and have a fang-tastic night! 🦇





Central Services hosted its annual Eastlawn Elementary Candy Parade today! 🍬 Kindergarten students strolled through the halls of Central Services in their creative costumes as staff handed out treats to fill their bags. While ghosts and goblins may be on the minds of many this time of year, our parade was all about community and creating magical memories for our littlest learners. 🧙♀️🧚♂️🍭 Thanks to all who participated and helped make the event a success.

Around 40 literacy tutors gathered at Central Services today! Each tutor received a resource kit and training using a model lesson. They will soon be partnering with elementary schools across the district to work one-on-one with students. With two tutors assigned to each school, this new district initiative aims to make great strides in helping our students become strong, confident readers! #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

Today, Superintendent Dr. Butler, Board Chair Sandy Ellington-Graves, Vice Chair Ryan Bowden, and Board Member Donna Westbrooks spent the day touring our schools and engaging with students and teachers! They participated in reading strategy lessons in elementary classrooms, checked out the new Reveal Math curriculum in action, watched students weld in the new welding program, listened to the talented orchestral performers, and even played ball in P.E. classes. 🤩 Hector is a leader who excels academically while making positive contributions to his community. Specifically, he recently volunteered at a food bank and school fair, where he helped serve meals to the homeless and assisted families looking for educational programs, all while maintaining excellent grades!
⭐ Mr. Watt is an energetic and dedicated teacher who builds strong relationships with students inside and outside the classroom through personal connections, classroom games and conversations, and coaching cross country. His constant positivity and engagement make him a beloved figure at school.

The first graders at Alexander Wilson Elementary had a down-to-earth experience on Dirt Day! 🌱 They learned about composting, collected soil samples, tested absorption, searched for pipe cleaner worms, and even whipped up dirt desserts! ABSS student-athletes participated in the Special Olympics Bocce Ball event at Bill Cooke Park today! They were joined by middle and high school volunteers for a day of fun and connection through sports. Participants enjoyed bocce ball, cornhole, high fives, and plenty of cheers. Teacher representatives from each of the elementary, middle, and high schools gathered to meet with Superintendent Dr. Butler and other senior leaders.
