Todd & Brandi McKinney have been working in ABSS since 1997! Todd is the PE Teacher at Newlin Elementary and Brandi is the ESL Teacher at AO Elementary and Western Alamance Middle School. Brandi shared, "Todd and I started dating in July 1992. I was 19 and he was 21. We got married in July 1997 and moved from PA to NC in August 1997 to begin working for ABSS. He started at Broadview Middle as a PE teacher and I started at Haw River as a 3rd-grade teacher. Todd moved to Newlin Elementary in 1999 and has been there ever since. I taught at Haw River for 10 years before moving to Hillcrest and then AO. We have loved working in the same field. It has allowed us to have a lot of time together with our children as they grew up and enjoy some epic vacations." #ABSSAskStaff

The cafeteria at Hillcrest Elementary was bustling today as guests filled the room for the "100 Days, 100 Dads" event. 💗 Parents, grandparents, uncles, family friends, and community members came out to eat lunch and chat with students to celebrate this special day. Your involvement is so important - thank you! Staff worked hard to ensure that every student had someone to talk to. There were student helpers to greet guests and Hugo the Hornet 🐝 even made an appearance. A huge thank you to Hillcrest community partners including Glen Raven, Inc. and the Alamance County Sheriff's Office for your support! #ABSSCommunity

Time for another #ABSSAskStaff Spotlight on Couples, this time from Hawfields Middle School. ❤️️ Aria is the Choral Director and Samuel is a Counselor. Sam shared, "Aria and I were both NC Teaching Fellows at Elon University from 2002-2006. We started dating in Jan. 2003 after we had a two-week long NCTF trip together. We got engaged while studying abroad in England during our Junior year, and have been together ever since! We were married a few a months after we graduated in 2006 in her hometown. We currently have four daughters together, two cats, and a dog. This year is our twentieth year together as a couple! Aria has been working at HMS for 17yrs, and I recently joined the same school at the start of last school year after teaching/counseling at two area high schools. It has been a blessing for our family for us to both work for ABSS, and we cannot thank our HMS and ABSS communities for the support, opportunities, and love that have been shared with our family!"

Seems like the perfect day to post another #ABSSAskStaff Spotlight on Couples! ❤️️🌹 Lina Hoyos is a Second Grade Teacher at Eastlawn Elementary and Jairo Roldán is a Spanish Teacher at Cummings High School. Lina said, "We met in university in Colombia, since we started off the same year. We have been together as long as we have been in education, and our journey brought us to ABSS a couple of years ago. We are truly grateful that our schools are so close to each other and we enjoy the fact that, despite not teaching the same grade levels, we are able to share ideas, experiences, and even a few laughs about our daily lives inside the classroom."

We're 100 days smarter today at Newlin Elementary. ❤️ Happy 100th Day of School! #StudentCenteredFutureFocused
