BURLINGTON, N.C. — Jasmine Plummer, an Exceptional Children’s teacher within the Alamance-Burlington School System, has been named the district’s 2026 EC Educator of Excellence.
Plummer was selected following nominations submitted by staff members across the district, who highlighted her strong mentorship and her students' academic progress. Plummer expressed complete surprise upon receiving the award.
"It’s great to feel like I’m making an impact," Plummer said. "When students see that you care, it makes them want to work harder."
A 2004 graduate of Cummings High School, Plummer joined the district in January 2013. She served as an EC Teacher Assistant for a year and a half before transitioning into her current role as a certified EC teacher. In addition to her classroom duties, Plummer has served as a cheerleading coach for the past nine years.
As part of the recognition, Plummer will be formally honored at the Educators of Excellence banquet in Greensboro and will receive complimentary registration to attend the North Carolina Exceptional Children Conference.
