Check out this musical highlight! 🎶 Carol Alvarado, senior at Williams High School, performed with the 2022 All National Symphony Orchestra. She joined selected high school students from all over the country and participated in rehearsals, a college fair, and a Sunday morning public concert. ABSS is proud of all of her hard work and for representing our orchestra program on the national stage! 👏

Schools around the nation are reporting increased concerns around a variety of mental health issues since COVID-19. Elisabeth Morrell, CTEC Nurse, engaged Health Science students in a presentation about depression and anxiety. Students will be able to use the information to help themselves, loved ones, or future patients. #ABSSCTEC #StudentCenteredFutureFocused



Kudos to the Carpentry students at CTEC who used their skills to make a difference in our community. A community partner from Home Care Providers (CAP C Cone Health) recently asked our students to help rebuild a ramp for a local homeowner. #ABSSCTE @CTEforNC

At its heart, the game focuses on storytelling, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.✨ Here's a peek into what a session looks like!





It's Election Day! 🗳 Which would you vote for: Oreo or Chips Ahoy? 🍪 Second Graders at AO Elementary participated in an Official Grade 2 Cookie election. After learning about the election process, students created campaign posters, engaged in persuasive discussions, and completed an official ballot. The results are in! Oreo won in 5 classes, Chips Ahoy in 1.

Career progress update! Mrs. Grissett's Nursing Fundamental Students from CTEC returned to the Nursing Facility to obtain their clinical hours for their CNA Certification. This is their first in-person attendance since 2019. #ABSSCTEC #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

First graders at E.M.Holt Elementary learned all about the history of the American flag today during the Flags for First Graders presentation. We are thankful to the veterans that come out every year to provide this great program for our students. #StudentCenteredFutureFocused




The Western High School Jazz Band is hosting the Charles Mingus Centennial Concert TONIGHT at 7pm in the WAHS Auditorium. The Artist in Residence for this event is Brad Linde - professional saxophonist (Washington, DC) and 1997 alumnus of Western High School. Brad has worked with our students for year and they're excited to finally share the stage with such a dynamic musician! Performances will also include bassist, Chase Fogleman (WAHS '21) and Pianist, Gregory Milton (Cummings HS/Broadview MS) playing with the ensemble for the first time.
