Alamance County is expected to get heavy rainfall and high winds with the incoming storm. Projections for heaviest rainfall and winds in the triad begin in the early morning Thursday and Friday. Thursday, August 8th and Friday, August 9th will be remote learning days for our Early College students and closed for students in our Read to Achieve Summer School. The Read to Achieve Summer Camp will have a makeup day on Monday, August 12th. Non-congregate meal pick-up in the Eastern Zone scheduled on Thursday, August 8th will be canceled. Middle and High School athletic practices, scrimmages, and workouts scheduled on Thursday, August 8th, and Friday, August 9th will be canceled.

Here's a look at the revitalized Turrentine Middle School campus! Look closely and you can see the brand new windows installed as part of the ongoing facility improvement project. News crews walked through the building yesterday with Greg Hook, Chief Operations Officer, to discuss the work being done. You can watch their stories, linked below. All in all, the improvements to HVAC systems, windows, and doors are substantial and will make a big difference in air quality. 🏆 Congratulations to Graham High School CTE Teacher Madison Pierce, named North Carolina New Teacher of the Year by the NC Association of Career and Technical Educators! This award recognizes Madison's significant contributions to innovative career and technical education programs and her professional commitment early in her career. We're proud to support Madison as she moves on to the ACTE Region II awards, which includes 11 states and territories from Alabama to the Virgin Islands. Our rising 8th and 9th graders had a blast at the Food Science Explorers camp!
