🐾Welcome🐾
Our school believes in the importance of establishing an environment where every student feels valued. We are excited to partner with Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) to build a high-performing culture where students know they are loved, feel connected, and are challenged to grow into leaders.
🐾 How Capturing Kids' Hearts Works🐾
🐾 Students: Engage in lessons and activities to build leadership skills, foster healthy relationships, and recognize their impact on the community.
🐾 Staff: Intentionally focus on practices that build strong personal connections, lower student anxiety, and maximize learning potential.
🐾 Families: Link arms with us at home! Each month, you will receive a newsletter with a focused character trait, actionable activities, and conversation starters to help your family connect, reflect, and grow together.
🐾 This Month's Focus: Empathy 🐾
This month, we are focusing on Empathy—understanding and feeling what others are experiencing. Our challenge for students is to ensure that everyone they interact with feels seen, heard, and valued.
🐾 Family Activities🐾
🐾 ENGAGE: Celebrate Differences — List each family member's favorite things. Celebrate what you have in common, as well as your unique differences, discussing how those differences make your family strong.
🐾 EMPOWER: Build a Family Social Contract — Hold a family meeting to answer: How do we want to treat each other? and How do we treat each other when there is conflict? Write down your core values (e.g., respect, kindness, honesty) and have everyone sign the contract.
🐾 EXCEL: Find the Light. Be the Light. — Brainstorm 3–5 people you encounter daily who provide a service or brighten your day (like a mail carrier or cashier) and write them thank-you notes for "Being a Light".
🐾 Conversation Starters 🐾
🐾 How are you greeted each morning at school, and how does it make you feel?
🐾 What are some "Good Things" that happened during your day?
🐾 What can you say or do to show someone you are truly listening to them?
🐾 What does it mean to "make someone's day"?
