E. M. Holt Elementary School

As we approach Veterans Day next Tuesday, these first graders at E.M. Holt Elementary School had the honor of learning from local heroes as Rodney Smith from the 40&8 Veterans Honor Society Voiture 1237 of Alamance County, along with veterans from American Legion Post 63 and other organizations, visited to teach about the American flag. 🇺🇸 The veterans shared the flag's history, the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance, and demonstrated proper flag folding while explaining the significance of each fold. Students learned about respectful care and display of the flag and enjoyed a moving poem before receiving their very own 4" x 6" American flag to take home! This meaningful program visits all our elementary schools each year!

Volunteering twice weekly for after-school tutoring, Ms. Rivera fosters meaningful relationships and partners with colleagues to organize impactful community-building events like the monthly "Newcomer Socials." Her compassionate support and warm demeanor create an ideal environment for academic growth and English language development among newly arrived students. Ms. Rivera's selfless devotion to empowering this population through academics and community makes her truly deserving of recognition.

Ready, Set, Read! 💥 It's #ReadAcrossAmerica Week and our students and staff are celebrating in creative ways! E.M. Holt Elementary School students have been having a blast dressing up as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters. From the Cat in the Hat to Thing 1 and Thing 2, the school is filled with whimsical characters from the beloved children's books. We encourage everyone to grab a book and join the fun by reading for at least 10 minutes today.
