October 26, 2025
Good afternoon Western Alamance Middle School families,
As we approach the end of October, a quick reminder that Monday, October 27th marks the last day of the first quarter. Tuesday, October 28th is a Teacher Workday, and there will be no school for students as teachers finalize grades and prepare for the start of the second quarter.
Halloween Costumes: Costumes are not permitted to be worn at school. This includes masks, face paint, and costume accessories. We want to ensure that our school day remains focused on learning. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and distraction-free learning environment for all students.
PTO: Thanks to everyone who participated in the car rider raffle for the 2nd nine weeks. We raised over $1000 for WAMS. Because of your generosity, we will be able to fully fund the library's request for books. Thank you so very much. Car rider tags will be sent home Monday and can be used starting Wednesday.
The PTO would like to re-establish its tax exempt status. We are looking for an accountant to help us free or at a reduced rate. Please reach out to westernalamancepto@gmail if you are able to help.
7th Grade Vision Screenings: Each year Alamance-Burlington School System conducts student health screenings to better serve the students in Alamance County. Vision screenings will be conducted for 7th grade students by trained and certified staff members starting October 27th. Those who do not wish to have their child screened must send a written note to the child’s teacher prior to the screening. A written notification will be sent home to the parent/guardian if the student fails a vision screening and may need an additional evaluation and/or follow up care. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Nurse Benson.
Free and Reduced Lunch Application: Beginning Tuesday 10/7, if students have not submitted an application for this year 2025-2026, they will revert back to a full pay status.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. Paper forms are available in the WAMS main office or you can fill it out online. Please make sure that you have been approved for free or reduced lunch or that your child has lunch money in their account.
Infinite Campus: As you are aware, ABSS transitioned from PowerSchool to a new student information system, Infinite Campus (IC), over the summer months. This new platform will now be used to access student schedules, grades, attendance, and more. On Monday, August 4, parents/guardians will receive a message from ABSS with instructions on how to create their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Please be sure to check your email to get started.
