Good afternoon Western Alamance Middle School families,
Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break! I hope each of you has had a chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. It’s hard to believe that we are already beginning the month of December. This time of year is always a busy and exciting season for our school community.
As we move through these next few weeks, the excitement of the holidays can make it easy to lose focus. Please help us reiterate the importance of following daily expectations for schoolwork and behavior. Staying engaged in the classroom and treating each other with respect will ensure that we all enjoy a positive and productive end to 2025.

NC Check Ins:
MATH NC Check-Ins will take place this Tuesday, December 2nd. Check-Ins are interim assessments aligned to North Carolina grade-level content standards developed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). The main purpose of NC Check-Ins is to provide students, teachers, and parents with immediate data and a reliable estimate of students’ current performance on the selected content standards. It is extremely important that your student arrives at school on time with a fully charged computer Tuesday to ensure that our test administration is not interrupted.
Free and Reduced Lunch Application: Beginning Tuesday 10/7, if students have not submitted an application for this year 2025-2026, they will revert back to a full pay status.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. Paper forms are available in the WAMS main office or you can fill it out online. Please make sure that you have been approved for free or reduced lunch or that your child has lunch money in their account.
Infinite Campus: As you are aware, ABSS transitioned from PowerSchool to a new student information system, Infinite Campus (IC), over the summer months. This new platform will now be used to access student schedules, grades, attendance, and more. On Monday, August 4, parents/guardians will receive a message from ABSS with instructions on how to create their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Please be sure to check your email to get started.
