February 1, 2026
Good afternoon Western Alamance Middle School families,
Thank you for your continued flexibility and support as we navigate the winter weather. We appreciate your partnership and patience as our staff and students adjust to the changing schedules.
Due to ongoing weather-related issues, Monday, February 2, will be another Remote Learning Day. School facilities will be closed to both staff and students, and there will be no athletic events or after-school activities.
As a reminder, students should continue to complete all assignments posted in Canvas and follow the expectations outlined for remote learning. Please take a moment to review the following two important resources to support your student:
PTO: Show some love by purchasing love notes for your child. The PTO will be selling silk flowers that have a small teddy bear and a note on them for $5. Order forms were sent home Friday, January 23rd. The last day to purchase love notes will be Tuesday, February 13. We accept Cash or Venmo.
It's time to put on your dancing shoes for our Masquerade Ball. Tickets will be on sale until Thursday, February 19. The dance is Friday, February 20 from 5:15-7:30. Forms were sent home Friday. In order to attend the dance, the forms must be filled out and returned. The cost is $10 and that includes beads or glasses. Concessions will be available for purchase. We accept cash or Venmo. Please put the students first and last name in the subject line if paying via venmo.

ABSS Rezoning Information: ABSS is launching a district-wide attendance zone planning process focused on balanced enrollment, efficient transportation, and the long-term stability of our schools. Our district has evolved over time as some schools are over capacity, others have available space, and new housing continues to shift population patterns. This process will help us plan responsibly for the future. No maps have been created yet. Before any options are developed, we are gathering input from staff, families, and the community to understand the values and priorities that matter most.
How you can participate:
Community Voice Sessions (6:00 PM):

A full timeline and ongoing updates are available on the Student Assignments Webpage.
Free and Reduced Lunch Application: Beginning Tuesday 10/7, if students have not submitted an application for this year 2025-2026, they will revert back to a full pay status.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. Paper forms are available in the WAMS main office or you can fill it out online. Please make sure that you have been approved for free or reduced lunch or that your child has lunch money in their account.
Infinite Campus: As you are aware, ABSS transitioned from PowerSchool to a new student information system, Infinite Campus (IC), over the summer months. This new platform will now be used to access student schedules, grades, attendance, and more. On Monday, August 4, parents/guardians will receive a message from ABSS with instructions on how to create their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Please be sure to check your email to get started.
