WAMS Weekly Update - 2/8/26

Good afternoon Western Alamance Middle School families,

I hope you all had a relaxing weekend. As we move into the next few weeks, we have a busy schedule ahead with several important events and updates to keep everyone on track. Please continue reading for the latest information on upcoming activities, reminders, and ways to stay engaged with our school community.

February is Black History Month, a time to recognize and appreciate the many contributions African Americans have made throughout our history. It is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements and impact of individuals who have influenced our nation in many fields, including science, education, business, sports, and the arts. We encourage families to take time this month to explore and celebrate the rich history, accomplishments, and stories of those who have helped shape our country.

National School Counseling Week: This week, we celebrate National School Counseling Week, a time to recognize the vital role school counselors play in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth. At Western Alamance Middle School, we are incredibly grateful for Ms. Lombard and Ms. Watlington whose dedication and commitment make a difference in the lives of our students every day. Ms. Lombard  and Ms. Watlington work tirelessly to provide guidance, encouragement, and resources to help our students succeed. Whether assisting with academic planning, offering support through challenges, or simply being a trusted voice.

Please join us in thanking Ms. Watlington and Ms. Lombard for all they do to support our students, staff, and school community!

PTO: Show some love by purchasing love notes for your child. The PTO will be selling several small gift items that go along with a note on them for $5.  The last day to purchase love notes will be Thursday, February 12. We accept Cash or Venmo.

ABSS Rezoning Information: ABSS is launching a district-wide attendance zone planning process focused on balanced enrollment, efficient transportation, and the long-term stability of our schools. Our district has evolved over time as some schools are over capacity, others have available space, and new housing continues to shift population patterns. This process will help us plan responsibly for the future. No maps have been created yet. Before any options are developed, we are gathering input from staff, families, and the community to understand the values and priorities that matter most.
