WAMS Weekly Update - 3/15/26

March 15th, 2026

Good afternoon Western Alamance Middle School families,

As we begin the 4th quarter and move closer to the end of the school year, there is much to look forward to with a variety of events and activities ahead. However, we have recently seen an increase in misbehavior.  School administration reviewed expectations with students last week. It is important to remember that our focus must remain on maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations as students and teachers prepare for the EOG assessments. Let’s stay committed to providing a strong finish to the year, ensuring our students are supported and ready for success.

PTO: Thanks so much for your support! We have been able to fund several student projects this school year.

Would you like to skip the car rider line the last nine weeks? We will be selling raffle tickets from 3/11-3/17. We accept cash, check and Venmo. Please make sure to put the students first and last name and grade level in the subject line. Winners will be drawn Wednesday, March 17 and tags will be sent home on Friday, March 19. We have four skip the line passes for $200 each.

Let's show the teachers some love by volunteering for duty free lunch! We need volunteers to watch the students in the cafeteria on Wednesday, March 25. Please see the sign up genius linked below.  It is a great way to spend time with your middle schooler!

The Arts

Let's congratulate these students for placing in the 68th Visual Arts Arts Competition, which showcases both middle and high school students from Alamance County. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 19th from 5-8pm with middle school awards given out at 6pm. The artwork will be on display for a month, so anyone can stop by to see it any time. All are welcome!

EOG/EOC Retesting Opportunity: Beginning the 2025-2026 school year, students who score Not Proficient on an End-of-Grade (EOG) and/or End-of-Course (EOC) assessment are eligible for one retest opportunity per subject each school year. Retesting provides students an additional opportunity to demonstrate academic growth and progress. For EOC courses, the highest score earned will count as the exam grade.

In order for a student to retake an exam, parent/guardian consent is required. Please complete the Retesting Consent Form linked below to grant permission for your child to participate in retesting if needed. Families will be contacted after exam results are received if their child scores Not Proficient and is eligible for a retest opportunity.
