Good Evening,

And Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there. This is your Proud Principal, Mr. Garrett, with a few important announcements for the week of May 12th, 2025.

Parents, we have become aware that students across multiple schools are mishandling their school-issued Chromebooks. Additionally, there are social media trends encouraging students to intentionally damage the devices. This is extremely dangerous and can result in:

  • Devices emitting smoke or catching fire

  • Damage to electrical outlets and chargers

  • Risk of electric shock

  • Serious injury

Please help us by:

  • Talking with your students about the dangers of these behaviors and online trends

  • Explaining the serious consequences of damaging school property

  • Monitoring how, when, and where their Chromebook is used at school

Schools will reference the Technology Responsible Use Policy and the Student Code of Conduct if related instances occur at school and we will issue consequences for damaging school property including restitution and out of school suspension.

Our hope is that, together, we can protect our students and maintain a safe school environment. We appreciate your help and partnership with our schools.

As we approach the end of the school year, we want to ensure all families are informed about our upcoming End-of-Grade (EOG) testing schedule at Woodlawn Middle School.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our students succeed. If you have any questions or concerns about testing, or if you’re interested in serving as a Proctor during testing, please don’t hesitate to contact the main office.

Due to forecasted poor weather conditions for Monday, May 12th through Wednesday, May 14th, the upcoming Middle School Playoffs and Championships will be postponed. We have two teams competing in the upcoming conference playoffs. Our Boys Baseball team grabs the #3 seed in the conference tournament and will travel to Southern Middle School on Friday, May 16th, 2025. Our Softball team also finished as the #3 seed and will travel to Western Middle School on Monday, May 19th, 2025. Both games will begin at 4:45 pm and $5 game tickets can be purchased online at gofans.com or by paying with cash at the gate.

Well, that’s all for now. This is Mr. Garrett signing off from the Home of the Eagles where I always say “We’re having fun, but we ain’t playing!”
