The 2nd semester “Soaring To The Front of The Car Rider Line” Raffle will start Monday. The lucky winner will get to pull right up to the front of the pick up line without waiting. The pass will last from 2/6 to 6/9. The PTO be selling tickets in the car rider line in the afternoons next week. Tickets are $10 for 1 or $25 for 3. The winner will be announced by 2/6. All funds raised support PTO sponsored events and projects.

We're Bach with some good music news! 🎶🎺 Four talented Woodlawn Band members auditioned and made it into the All District Band, two of them being eligible to audition to compete and represent Woodlawn at the All State Band in early March. 🌟The following four students will be representing Woodlawn on Jan 27th and 28th at the All District Band Clinic being held at the Durham School of the Arts. 7th Grade Clarinetist: Olivia Hampton* 8th Grade Clarinetist: Ryan McAdoo 8th Grade Trumpeter: Tristan Garrett* 8th Grade Percussionist: Nicholas Mora *Eligible to audition for All State Band Congrats to these fine young musicians for their leadership, musical talents and contributions to the Woodlawn Middle School Band program and for representing Woodlawn and county at the district level this year. We wish them all the best! ❤️️

ABSS Alert UPDATE: Classes have resumed at Woodlawn Middle following a small fire this morning in one of our bathrooms. Thanks to the quick response by our staff and local firefighters. (1/13/23 - 11:25 a.m.)

ABSS Alert: We’re evacuating Woodlawn Middle at this time due to a small fire. The fire has been extinguished, however there is some smoke in the building. Firefighters are on scene. We hope to resume class soon.

ABSS Alert: We became aware of a threatening call today (1/12) to 911 regarding potential violence at Woodlawn Middle. We're working closely with law enforcement, who have determined the threats are NOT credible. We will continue to be vigilant to ensure school safety.

Our first home basketball game is Wednesday, December 7th. The Winter Band concert is Thursday, December 8th, at 7:00pm in the Eastern High School Auditorium. The Winter Chorus concert is Monday, December 12th, at 7:00pm, in our cafeteria. Holiday break runs from December 19th until January 2nd. Students return on Tuesday, January 3rd.

ABSS has implemented a clear bag procedure at all athletic events. Permitted bags include: Clear plastic or vinyl bags that are no larger than 12” x 6” x 12” One gallon-sized clear plastic storage bag Medical Bags (subject to inspection) Diaper Bags (with an infant/toddler present) The following bags will NOT be permitted: Purses Briefcases Backpacks Fanny Packs Cinch/Drawstring bags Luggage Computer/Camera Bags Fans carrying bags that do not meet the criteria will be turned away from the venue at or near the gates and will have the opportunity to return prohibited items to their vehicle. Additionally, cameras will be permitted into a venue if they are not in their own bags. Credentialed members of the media will be allowed to bring bags into a venue but must consent to search and inspection of all bags.

Next week is Spirit Week! Monday is Color Day. 6th grade wears green, 7th grade wears red and 8th grade wears blue. The grade level with the most participation earns Fun Friday time outside. Tuesday is Adam Sandler or Throwback Day. Dress like Adam Sandler or dress like another generation. Wednesday is Woodlawn Gear Day and Hat Day. Thursday is Character Day. Dress like your favorite movie character. Friday is Pajama Day, wear school appropriate pajamas. Our last home football game is Wednesday. let's get a big crowd to support the Eagles! This week is the Book Fair. Students can purchase books during the school day when their class visits the Book Fair or from our school website. The Book Fair will also be open Thursday evening. Make-Up Picture Day is Friday, October 28th for students who were absent on Picture Day. The first nine week grading period ends on October 28th and report cards will be available in PowerSchool on November 7th. Our 6th grade Band and Chorus students will be performing on Thursday, at 7:00pm in our cafeteria. Monday, October 31st, is a teacher workday and there is no school for students.

High School Options Fair graphic with graduation caps.  Options Fair is Saturday Oct 8 from nine to noon at Holly Hill Mall, 309 Huffman Mill Road in Burlington, NC.  All students and their families are welcome.
The Woodlawn PTO is sponsoring a dance on Friday, October 7th, from 4:00 - 6:00pm. Admission is $5 and a permission slip is required to attend. Students can pick up permission slips from their teachers or print them from the PTO Facebook or Instagram pages. Pizza, drinks and candy will also be sold.
